Interiors
We design how life flows inside: light, materials, colour, storage and furniture. Build a room below, compare styles, and read up on this year's colours and the tricks of the trade.
01 · Design a room
Choose your style and watch the room change.
Choose a room and a style, then change the paint, walls, floor, furniture, objects and light one by one. Each choice comes with a tip from the trade. Colours on screen are approximate; the real colour is judged from a sample, in the room's own light.

02 · Style library
Ten styles, each with its details.
What makes a style is less its name than its materials, colour balance and the details that need care. Try any of them in the room above.
-
Modern
Clean lines, calm colour and fewer, well-chosen pieces. Light and materials do the work.
Materials: Oak, linen, matt metal, glass
Watch for: An all-white room can feel cold, so soften it with texture and warm light.
-
Classic
Symmetry, mouldings and panelled walls, carved legs and a chandelier. Timeless and composed.
Materials: Walnut, marble, brass, silk
Watch for: With a low ceiling, choose slim mouldings; heavy profiles make a room feel squat.
-
Minimal
Few things, hidden storage, and empty space as the ornament. Everything has its place.
Materials: Lime plaster, light wood, concrete
Watch for: Minimal living depends on storage, so built-in cupboards are planned from the start.
-
Rustic Anatolian
The warmth of an Anatolian house: kilims, copper, timber beams, arched niches and handmade ceramics.
Materials: Lime plaster, cherry and walnut, copper, wool
Watch for: Keep pattern in one place: if there's a kilim, keep the curtains plain.
-
Mid-century
1950s and 60s tapered legs, teak and walnut, sunburst mirrors and graphic patterns.
Materials: Walnut, teak, brass, wool
Watch for: One or two period pieces are enough; if everything is vintage, it starts to feel like a set.
-
Gothic
Pointed arches, deep dark colour, velvet, candelabra and dramatic light. Wonderful in libraries and studies.
Materials: Dark wood, velvet, wrought iron, patterned paper
Watch for: Dark walls absorb light, so layer plenty of lighting and consider a lighter ceiling.
-
Cosy
Soft, rounded seating, throws, cushions and warm light: a home you sink into.
Materials: Bouclé, wool, linen, light wood
Watch for: Cosy isn't cluttered; closed storage keeps the textiles tidy.
-
Active
For an active life: a bike rack, a flexible workout corner, tough surfaces and energising colour.
Materials: Rubber, polished concrete, metal, technical fabrics
Watch for: A workout area needs shock-absorbing flooring and good ventilation.
-
Industrial
Brick, exposed services, metal framing and bare bulbs: the feel of a workshop turned home.
Materials: Brick, concrete, black metal, aged leather
Watch for: Hard surfaces echo, so a big rug and fabric curtains are a must.
-
Natural (biophilic)
A home that brings nature in: lots of plants, stone, wood, daylight and views out.
Materials: Travertine, light wood, lime plaster, linen
Watch for: Plan light and care for the plants, and make watering easy.
03 · This year's colours and trends
What we're reading, at home and abroad.
We follow paint makers' colours of the year, Milan Design Week and the design press. Last reviewed: 25 October 2026; updated every three months.
-
Pantone · 2026
Cloud Dancer (11-4201)
The first white chosen since the programme began in 1999: calm, balanced, a break from the noise.
-
Sherwin-Williams · 2027
Celery (SW 6421)
An airy, herbal green with yellow undertones, announced on 15 September 2026.
-
Benjamin Moore · 2027
Webster Green (HC-130)
A deep, classic green, following 2026's brown-charcoal Silhouette.
-
Marshall · 2026
Mavinin Ritmi
Three blues: Akdeniz Ezgisi, Ege Melodisi and Karadeniz Nağmesi.
-
DYO · 2026
Sessiz Güç
A blue-green inspired by the depths of the ocean.
-
Filli Boya · 2026
Palette: Irmak, Rüzgâr, Rezene, Kum Beyazı, Günbatımı
A palette drawn from nature instead of a single colour.
Colours on screen are approximate; before painting, look at the maker's sample in the room's own light.
- 01
Earth tones went deeper
Ochre, terracotta, apricot, mocha and warm chocolate brown: colours that reconnect with nature.
- 02
Materials show their character
Wood, stone and travertine, with tool marks and raw texture treated as value, not flaws.
- 03
Lacquer moved onto furniture
High-gloss lacquer moved from cabinets to sofas and side tables, in warm browns, mint, olive and pale blue.
- 04
Greens are setting the tone for 2027
Sherwin-Williams Celery, Benjamin Moore Webster Green, Behr Grounded: from airy herbal green to deep olive.
- 05
Technology is disappearing into the room
Speakers plastered into walls and screens hidden in cabinetry: homes are more connected but look less technical.
- 06
Flexible furniture, handwork, layered abundance
Reconfigurable modular sofas and desks, handmade over mass-produced, carefully curated abundance rather than clutter, and the return of papered ceilings.
This year pulls two ways: calming down with white and soft green, and warming up with earth tones and texture. Both can live in one home: a Cloud Dancer wall, a travertine floor and an olive lacquer side table. Trends are a starting point; we tune them to the room's light and the people who live there.
04 · Good to know
The small details that change a room.
- 01
The 60-30-10 rule
Main colour 60% (walls, large surfaces), secondary 30% (furniture, textiles), accent 10% (objects, art).
- 02
Light comes in three layers
General light, task light (reading, worktops) and accent light (art, niches). A single ceiling light flattens a room.
- 03
Test colour on the wall
The same colour cools in north light and warms in south light. Don't decide until you've seen a big patch morning and evening.
- 04
Hang curtains high
A track near the ceiling and wider than the window makes the window bigger and the ceiling higher.
- 05
Rug size
At least the front legs of the seating should sit on the rug; a small rug breaks a room up.
- 06
Clearances and ergonomics
90 cm for main walkways, 100–120 cm between kitchen runs and 80 cm around a dining table.
- 07
Don't forget acoustics
Hard-surfaced homes echo; rugs, curtains, bookshelves and acoustic panels make conversation easier.
- 08
Plan storage from the start
Built-ins, under-bed and under-stair storage: clutter is solved by storage, not decoration.
- 09
Materials suit the use
Choose stain-resistant surfaces in kitchens, non-slip in bathrooms and wipeable where there are children.
- 10
Hang art at the right height
Hang art with its centre about 145 cm from the floor, with 5–8 cm gaps in a group.
- 11
Treat the ceiling as the fifth wall
A pale tint, patterned paper or timber battens: the ceiling completes the room's character.
- 12
Smart home and interior together
Switch, sensor, speaker and socket positions are drawn with the furniture plan; devices added later stick out.
05 · With the smart home
Light, blinds and climate, built into the design.
Switch, sensor, speaker and socket positions are drawn with the furniture plan, so the technology disappears and the home gets easier to live in.
Tell us about your space and we'll design it together.
A few photos, the measurements and a style you like are enough. We'll plan the first meeting together.
